George MacKay
Early life,
Family, Age and Bio.
George MacKay, a lover of playing the guitar, is a British
professional actor. His acting career began at the early age of eleven, gaining
fame in the film industry all through his young life to date. The 29-year-old
actor was born in London on 13 March 1992 and grew up in Barnes. Mackay is of
Irish descent from his mother, Kim Barker's side and has a little sister, Daisy
Mackay, with whom they were raised. Paul Mackay, his father of Australian
descent, worked as a production and stage manager and later moved to a
production design company. He attended an independent school in west London
called The Horrodian, where he was recognized by a talent scout visiting the
school who later cast him as Curly in the famous film Peter Pan produced
in 2003. Since then, Mackay appeared and was featured in several films,
including The Thief Lord, Johnny and the Bomb, Defiance,
and The Boys are back. Little did he know that he would hit a
bumpy road in his later years that would pose a challenge but would later be
mitigated by the sobering fact that he is a hard-working actor who does not
give up. At 17, he tried auditioning for the London Academy of Music and
Dramatic Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts but got rejected, thus
failing. That, however, did not stop him from trying.
Career
Breakthrough
In 2013 the actor made a comeback when he took the leading role as
Eddie in How I Live Now, starring alongside the actress
Saoirse Ronan and Tom Holland, and Kevin Macdonald as the director. This was
propelled by his role as Private Peaceful in 2012. However,
one of his most significant films was Pride, a 1984 actual
story film produced in 2014. In the movie, he was Joe, a 20-year-old homosexual
whose struggles to come out in a British society that was homophobic were
beyond imagination. Mackay said he was astonished at learning what the gay
community faced in the Eighties and said he had to try "understanding to
what extent it was a taboo". In addition, his mother "worked in
ballet and theatre" resulted in him being raised around "lots of gay
people", with which he had no issues. Mackay wanted to comprehend how
difficult it was to be gay and come out openly in a society that condemned
homosexuality. His role in the film 1917 was so significant
that it earned him the Best Actor in a Motion Picture Award in 2019 at the
Satellite Awards Ceremony. His hard work has gained him not only that one award
but others that include the BAFTA Scotland Best Actor award in 2013 for the
role he played in For Those in Peril and at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival where
he won Trophee Chopard. He also won Online Film and Television Association Best
Breakthrough Performance Award in the male category in 2020.
Net Worth
Reports claim that the actor's net worth is approximately millions,
but the actual estimate is unknown. Some websites attempt to assess his
approximate net worth his actual worth is yet to be revealed.
Dating and
Girlfriend
Mackay's personal and dating life is so private because the actor's
social media life is not as active as is expected of such a famous and
successful actor. Rumour had it that the actor and his co-star in How
I Live Now, Saoirse Ronan, an Irish-American, had a real-life
romantic affair aside from the acting one. The duo began their relationship in
2013 and dated for a while before splitting. Mackay confirmed their split by
mentioning her as an "ex-girlfriend" in an interview with London
Evening Standard in 2016. There were also rumours on the internet claiming
Mackay is dating Doone Forsyth, a make-up and hairstylist he met on sets,
although they have never been confirmed. The actor has never been married, and
does he have children. Some websites believe and write that George Mackay is
single, but the actor is either too secretive or just private with his personal
life. However, his gay role in comedy-drama Pride sparked
some rumours of him being a closeted homosexual guy. The actor has made no
confirmation or comments about his sexuality and his dating life.
Height and
Projects
At 6 feet (1.83 m), the young English actor has shown prospects of a
potentially progressive future in his life as an actor and the film industry.
His upcoming projects like the film Wolf to feature alongside actress Lily-Rose
Depp portrays his hard work and passion for his acting career. His achievements
are, without a doubt, recognizable and appraisable.
